The European Cluster Conference 2016 kicked off in the morning of 1st December 2016 gathering more than 300 attendees from all over Europe comprising national and regional policy-makers and cluster managers.
The fifth edition of the European Cluster Conference 2016 was focused on Cluster 4.0 – Shaping Smart Industries and included high-level plenary speeches, panel discussions and interactive sessions where participants had the chance to share their experience and challenges. Parallel discussions tookplace in four priority areas related to industrial modernisation, namely smart manufacturing and digital transformation, the circular economy, key enabling technologies, and creative and data-driven services. The parallel discussions included the role of clusters in boosting the innovation uptake and growth opportunities through strengthening cross-sectoral value chain linkages, strategic European partnering, international collaboration and skills towards shaping smart industries.
European Cluster Manager of the Year and European Strategic Cluster Partnership of the Year were awarded.
In conjunction with the European Cluster Conference, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform organized a large-scale European cluster matchmaking event that was held as a pre-event on 30th November 2016, also in Brussels. With over 500 bilateral meetings between EU clusters, the ECCP matchmaking event has clearly met the expectations of the 114 participating cluster organisations from 21 countries. These clusters represent more than 10.000 SMEs in Europe that will benefit from the contacts and the concrete cooperation initiatives developed during the matchmaking sessions.
All MOVE project partners participated in the European Cluster Conference 2016 and European cluster matchmaking event. During the networking event MOVE project was presented to the clusters and several new clusters were identified to be invited to join MOVE ESCP.
